What the Law Requires
European Accessibility Act
Enforced from 28 June 2025
Applies to any business selling products or services to EU customers online. Your website must meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Non-compliance can result in fines up to €20 million or 4% of annual turnover - whichever is higher.
UK Equality Act 2010
Already in force
Requires “reasonable adjustments” so disabled people can access your services. Websites are explicitly included. The Equality and Human Rights Commission can investigate and individuals can bring claims - typical settlements run £10,000–£50,000+.
